About Dr Julia Jones
Julia is the psychologist behind Jaywalk. The name is inspired by her initials, JJ, combined with the idea of jaywalking as a metaphor for needing to stay true to ourselves in the face of cultural differences. She trained in psychology at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense and has an academic background as a university researcher in demography and biology. Having lived and worked in several countries across Africa and Europe, Julia brings a wealth of international experience that has shaped the way she works today:
professionally grounded, culturally aware, and authentic in her encounters with people.

Services
Individual Therapy — Online or in-person in Odense
Jaywalk offers therapy for internationals in Denmark who are navigating challenges and want to strengthen their wellbeing and sense of belonging through reflection and purposeful action.

Living across cultures can be deeply meaningful and enriching, yet it may also bring feelings of loneliness, disorientation, or strain.

In our conversations we might explore questions of identity and belonging, work and career, stress and anxiety, low mood or grief, family concerns, coping strategies, or the experience of being caught between cultures without feeling at home anywhere.

Whether you are new to Denmark, have lived here for many years, or are returning after time abroad, it can be valuable to have a safe space where your experiences are acknowledged and new perspectives can emerge. We can work together in Danish, English, or German, according to your preference.

What clients say
"I still remember reaching out to Julia, eager to read her paper and learn how other international students are navigating their career paths. Since then, she has also helped me untangle my thoughts and put my mind at ease. I'm very grateful."
Justas G.
"I can highly recommend Julia for her professional approach and her ability to connect precisely with her target audience. Julia stands out clearly from other stress consultants by combining three strong perspectives: her research-based knowledge as a biologist with a PhD, her own experiences as an international, and a solid psychological understanding.
Pascal G.
"I would recommend Julia to any new expat to Denmark, whether you are having a good or challenging experience. The expert knowledge Julia has as both a scientist and an expat herself lends to a very thorough, knowledgeable and empathetic way to work through anxieties about living and working in Denmark. I could not recommend Julia highly enough."
